Strong Interest Inventory

Used by more than 70 percent of U.S. colleges and universities, the SII assessment is one of the world’s most widely respected and frequently used career planning tools. Individual interest patterns are compared to the interest patterns of people who are happily and successfully employed in over 122 occupations, and among other information, a list of the top 10 occupations students are most likely to find rewarding is provided. You will also be given feedback on the strength of your interests in the six broad occupational themes identified as:

 

Realistic: Interested in THINGS, like action and prefer to learn by doing

Investigative: Interested in DATA, like to think and observe, and may enjoy scientific pursuits

Artistic: Interested in IDEAS and THINGS, like artistic and cultural activities, and may be creative

Social: Interested in PEOPLE, like teaching and helping others, may enjoy counseling

Enterprising: Interested in PEOPLE and DATA, like persuading others, and may enjoy law and business

Conventional: Interested in DATA, like rules and structure, and may prefer organized work tasks and environments
