MUN: Special Session of Model United Nations
Date: 10 November 2007
Time: All day
Location: LAS Building, SFS-Qatar
On Saturday, November 10, 2007, around 60 high school and university students gathered in the LAS Building in Education City to simulate three United Nations Security Councils, each dealing with the topic of Darfur. Each council was composed of delegates representing the fifteen current member countries of the UN Security Council as well as committee chairs.
Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar students served as both chairs and delegates. Also participating were students from the Academic Bridge Program, Gulf English School and Doha College.
The session came less than a week after nine SFS-Qatar students traveled to Oxford, UK with staff from CIRS and Student Affairs. In Oxford, the students acted as delegates of Germany and Sierra Leone in nine different simulated councils during the Oxford International MUN.
